Retro Rental — Cancellation & Refund Policy

Scope
This policy applies to all bookings made directly with Retro Rental (website or email). Prices and refunds are in EUR and issued to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed in writing.

1) Cancellations by the Customer

  • Up to 48 hours before pick-up: 100% refund of the rental fee.

  • Within 48 hours of pick-up or No-Show: 100% cancellation fee (no refund).

  • Force majeure (e.g., certified medical emergency, major transport disruption, natural events): provide documentation—Retro Rental may waive the fee and issue a 100% refund.

How to cancel: email info@retrorental.it with Order/Booking #, renter’s full name, vehicle, pick-up date/time.

2) Changes to a booking

  • Changes (dates/times, location, vehicle) are subject to availability.

  • If the new price is lower, Retro Rental refunds the difference; if higher, the balance is due at confirmation.

  • Changing a booking within 48 hours may be treated as a cancellation + new booking.

3) Early return / shortening the rental

If you return the vehicle earlier than planned, Retro Rental applies a pro-rata refund of unused hours/days (based on your hourly rate), net of:

  • any extras already incurred (km overage, fuel, cleaning, keys/docs, admin fees),

  • any delivery/collection fee already performed.

4) Cancellations/interruptions by Retro Rental

  • Safety / unsuitable weather for a classic vehicle (e.g., heavy rain, flooding risk) or vehicle not available (breakdown not attributable to you):

    • if a replacement is available, it will be offered;

    • if not, you receive a 100% refund (or pro-rata if the rental has started).

  • No further compensation is due beyond the refund of amounts paid for the unused service.

5) Vehicle issues during the rental

  • Breakdown not attributable to the renter: replacement vehicle (if available) or pro-rata refund of unused time.

  • Damage attributable to the renter is handled per the Rental Agreement; such costs are not refundable.

6) What is NOT refundable

  • Cancellation within 48h / No-Show (unless force majeure approved).

  • Extras/charges incurred: over-kilometres, late return (€100/h after 30’ grace), fuel shortage (fuel cost only), extra cleaning (€30), lost keys/documents (€100), fines/tolls/ZTL plus €20 admin fee per case.

  • Third-party costs already performed (e.g., completed delivery/collection).

7) Security deposit (pre-authorisation)

  • The €3,000 deposit is a card hold, not a charge.

  • If no extra costs apply, the hold is released 7 days after pick-up (bank processing times may vary).

  • If due amounts arise, Retro Rental may capture part/all of the hold up to the amount owed.

8) Refund process & timing

  • Request via email (info@retrorental.it) with Booking # and reason.

  • Retro Rental processes approved refunds within 7 days to the original payment method and sends confirmation by email.

9) Disputes & governing law

  • Disputes are handled under the Rental Agreement. Italian law applies; consumer venue as per mandatory rules.
